Recently we presented the designer and Japanese architectJo Nagasaka that integrated Schemata Architects studio he founded in 1998, is doing some work that deserve to be highlighted. This time we showed the collection he has done for Established & Sons and has been presented at the London Design Festival, held recently in London.
As in the previous collection will also present in this part of udukuri Nagasaka, that prodigious and ancient Japanese art where wood is required to expose the veins . After suffering this ancient technique the Douglas fir, which is wood that has been made this furniture is coated with a colored transparent resin .
The contrast between wood relief due to udukuri and perfect uniformity of the resin is very high at the same time gives a special character to the furniture.
This view of the side of a table in this collection can fully understand what the udukuri , the wood is cut between the growth rings leaving an uneven surface. This irregularity is filled to the furniture in this collection with transparent colored resin that displays the appearance of wood while producing crystal reflexes a bit mystifying.
It’;s a lovely collection that has made Japanese designer.Something unique and different that captures his genius.Makes you want to touch them, to have them at home, these lovely furnishings.
The effect of the resin on the irregular surface of the wood is hard to describe, is not just like having a glass top, as if the glass had melted and had penetrated the wood surface. A truly spectacular effect .
