Mosaic in the interior









The word mosaic is derived from the Latin expression musivum opus – a work dedicated to the Muses. Mosaic is a form of artistic images by assembling, recruitment and retention in the plane of multi-colored stones, tiles, glazes and other materials.



In ancient Rome, mosaic technique is widely used in the decoration of floors and walls of houses and palaces of the rich. His art has been flourishing in this era of the Byzantine Empire.



Today mosaic has not lost its popularity among designers. It is widely used for the finishing of floors, walls, ceilings, different podiums, niches and even furniture.



The most popular materials for modern mosaic – Smalt is a classic, as well as glass and ceramics. But it is possible to apply more rare materials: onyx, marble, travertine, coconut, bamboo, various metals (for example, can be used even platinum or gold).



Smalta – it artificially colored glass pieces, melted with addition of various metal oxides. It can be both transparent and opaque different colors. With the fitting foil between layers of glass turns gold or silver smalti. Due to the resistance to moisture and climatic influences, smalt is widely used in the finishing and decoration of the so-called “wet” rooms: kitchens, bathrooms, swimming pools, as well as for outdoor decoration.

Unlimited colors and textures you can create wealth out of a glass or ceramic mosaic any decorative image, from simple to highly artistic drawing of a small panel in the wall.



The most common form of puzzle pieces – squares. But of course this is not limited to a variety of mosaics. You can find a mosaic of tiles round, rectangular or complex curved shapes



Most often drawing mosaic panel is laid out on paper first, or on a grid, where the tiles and reinforced. Then small patches pattern is transferred to the finished surface. Stacking technique is similar to a normal tile laying: also used tile adhesive and grout for joints.
