Thanksgiving brings to mind a vision of bounty — of the harvest “safely gathered in,” and plenty of food, pals, and exciting. With these tips for table settings and centerpieces, you can put your own touch of “abundance” on the table even before dinner is served! Baskets of gourds or fruit are usually acceptable — but have you ever created a basket actually out of acorns or other nuts in shells? Candles are a super touch pair lime-green candles with apples in a huge glass bowl, or tall cranberry-toned tapers with red glassware, actually striking with white dishes. A colorful table runner printed with autumn leaves is a fabulous base for a grouping of the “real thing” — dried leaves, gourds, or other seasonal fare. And, on a polished tabletop, a string of tiny pine cones and pumpkins down the center is magic.
Beige or white china complements orange, gold, and red candles black-edged plates with a bright treat in their centers — Indian corn, fruit, flowers, autumn leaves, or even an artichoke! — are excellent “place cards.” Edge clear plates with sprigs of bittersweet against gold-trimmed china or glassware, it is fabulous. Or, dress up ordinary products: tie a velvet ribbon around every set of knife, fork, and spoon and fan them out subsequent to the plates — or use acorn-shaped “hot pads” for the table — and easy factors grow to be particular. And how about a “Thanksgiving tree” centerpiece, hung with acorns you’ve painted oneself? These concepts and a lot of other folks right here should spark your imagination: so go ahead, have exciting with your table this holiday!
