Modern Mexican Marvel

This stunning contemporary indoor/outside residence in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, is a solution of the Mexican firm Hernandez Silva Arquitectos. It’s challenging to choose which is more gorgeous: the elegant stone stairway major up to the principal entrance, or the covered courtyard beneath it, with sunlight filtering by means of the wood slats. Organic stone on either side offers a cool, shady spot from which you can look out on the front lawn, or proceed straight to the back yard, up another short set of methods. What’s at the back? Gorgeous curved stone walls, a tiny pond, and rolling lawns — a peaceful spot readily visible from the expansive deck and living space that can become open-air with a slide of a glass panel. Inside, natural light pours through 2 stories of glass wall as effectively as long vertical windows.

Complementing and echoing the sunlight, the décor is filled with bright colour: lemon yellow on dining-region chairs, vivid orange-red on loungers, green in the art on the wall and the rug on the floor. (Much more green, visible in the sleek kitchen with its eat-in counter and handy Television, is all-natural: it is ivy growing on the stone walls outside!) “Light” and “transparency” are 2 important elements of the style of Hernandez Silva you can see that readily apparent in the whimsical sphere “lights” they have dotting the landscape. Relaxation is also crucial here — with lots of casual lounging regions beneath the roof of the sheltered courtyard, in a handy hammock, and on a third-floor “rooftop” terrace. An open, spacious spot to spread out in with elegance and style: that is Casa Jacarandas.
